Sofia/Brussels, June 1st 2015 | The Roman Thermal Spas of Europe present their first transnational travel package. International travellers are invited to spend eight days in Bulgaria and Romania enjoying a unique mix of Roman culture and thermal spa experiences in a guided tour. The journey unites the cities of Baile Herculane in Romania and Hisarya in Bulgaria. They are both members of the Roman Thermal Spas project bringing together eight European thermal spa destinations with Roman origin.
After the arrival in Timiosora, also known as the “Vienna of the Balkans”, the tour starts with a relaxing two-day stay in Baile Herculane. After that guests will continue their journey to Bulgaria where they visit four exceptional destinations. During the first two days the oldest Bulgarian thermal spa Varshets and the capital Sofia are on the agenda. After that travellers will journey on to Hisarya, where they spend two days. There they will not only visit the extraordinarily well preserved Roman relics like the fortress wall with its famous South Gate but also enjoy high-class wellness offers in Spa Hotel Hissar. During their stay in Hisarya they will also visit Plovdiv, the European Capital of Culture 2019, and its Roman sites such as the Roman theatre and the ancient stadium. The travellers will be accompanied by a local guide for the whole duration of their stay.
